Perspective

Lift your eyes and look to the heavens:
Who created all these?
He who brings out the starry host one by one,
and calls them each by name.
Because of his great power and mighty strength,
not one of them is missing.  Isaiah 40:26 (NIV)

Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.  Matthew 10:29-30 (NIV)

Sometimes it gets hard to keep things in perspective, particularly if you have a chronic illness.  It gets wearing.  We get tired.  Sometimes, we lose site of what is truly important.

Yes, God should be important to us.  But how often do we really stop and think about how important we are to God? He cares about the stars in the heavens and knows each one by name.  He is aware of the fall of the tiny sparrow.  He counts the hairs on your head.

Each and every one of us is important to God.

When we are ill and unable to do the things we think we “should” do. We may suffer many losses.  Feelings of worthlessness may surface.

But take heart, dear one!  Your importance in God’s eyes cannot be calculated in human terms.  God’s love and care for us is beyond measure.

Let yourself believe that today  - knowing it is true.

God knows us better than we know ourselves – and loves us.

Let His love carry you through today.

Father God, I pray that you give each us of a glimpse of our worth in Your eyes.  Help us to see that even in illness, we are precious and have greater value to You than we can even imagine.  Amen and amen.
