I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you." (Genesis 28:15 NIV)
Have you ever had a verse from the Bible just reach out and grab you? This is one of those verses for me. I am thinking that God’s promises to His children are becoming a theme for me right now. I am seeing promise after promise after promise in His word.
I can’t recall reading this verse before, although I know I must have. Its meaning seems so new and fresh to me today.
HE is with me. (ME!!!)
HE will watch over me where ever I go.
HE will bring me home.
HE will not leave until all of His promises have been kept.
Amazing. Simply amazing. I want to grab a hold of this truth and inscribe it on my doorposts, put it on my forehead, shout it from the roof tops. God is promising ME!
When the pain comes, when the fears start, when the doubts start to cluster, what a weapon I have to banish them. “I will not leave you ….”
People have come and gone out of my life. A lot of them have gone since my illnesses and accident. Some have gone by their choice, my choice, or the choice of another. But God … GOD is promising me that He will not leave me. My heart ponders on these words in sheer wonderment. In complete awe, I bow my head and say a heart felt “Thank You.”
If you are a true believer in Christ’s death and resurrection for the forgiveness of our sins, these promises belong to YOU, too. What an awesome God we serve!
Prayer: Father God, there are times there are barely words to thank You for all You have done for us. How amazing is your love. I pray that in the dark hours of pain and despair, that these words will shine brightly – that they will be a lifeline of truth for me to hang on to, until the morning comes with it’s joy. Amen and Amen. So be it, Lord!
